CIBC Caribbean has issued a public warning about a surge in phishing scams targeting customers' personal banking information through phone calls, emails, and social media platforms, according to Antigua News Room.

The bank reports that scammers have been impersonating CIBC Caribbean representatives using calls displaying the bank's logo and fraudulent email addresses in an effort to trick individuals into surrendering sensitive personal and financial information.

CIBC Caribbean was unequivocal in its guidance: bank representatives will never contact customers by phone, email, text, or social media to request PIN numbers, One-Time Verification Codes, passwords, card details, or login credentials. The bank also stressed that it will never ask customers to click suspicious links or download applications.

Customers are urged not to engage with anyone suspected of being a fraudster. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the bank's Fraud Team at [email protected].

The bank further advised that any customer who believes they may have already shared personal information with an unauthorised party should contact CIBC Caribbean directly, using the phone number printed on the back of their ATM card.
