Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) Antigua and Barbuda has congratulated the five women who will contest the country's upcoming 2026 general election, describing their participation as vital to strengthening democracy and representation in the nation.

According to Antigua News Room, the organisation identified the five candidates as Gail S. Pero, an independent contesting St. George; Malaka Parker of the United Progressive Party (UPP) in St. John's Rural North; Kiz Johnson of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) in St. Philip South; Maria Bird-Browne of the ABLP in St. John's Rural East; and Senator Pearl Quinn-Williams of the UPP in St. John's City East.

CIWiL stated that women in politics bring diverse perspectives to governance and help advance critical issues, including healthcare, childcare and institutional reform, while also bolstering democratic structures.

The organisation also issued a broader call to action, urging Antiguans and Barbudans to engage actively in the electoral process. CIWiL emphasised that every vote plays a meaningful role in shaping the future direction of the country.
