Prime Minister Gaston Browne has declared that Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Lamin Newton has the potential to one day lead the country, as he rallied support for Newton during a campaign blitz in All Saints ahead of the April 30 general election.

According to Antigua News Room, Browne made the bold endorsement while urging voters to back Newton, describing him as part of a new generation of national leadership. "A man who can even become prime minister of this country," Browne said of the ABLP candidate.

Browne used the occasion to sharply contrast Newton with opposition leader Jamale Pringle, offering a pointed critique of the latter's political development. "Pringle just not ready yet," he said. "After two terms, he has not grown. If anything, he has disintegrated."

The prime minister called on constituents to "select and elect new talents," arguing that Newton is positioned to deliver continued development for All Saints. "He will make sure that infrastructure is improved… to repair the existing roads, to bring you more scholarships, to bring you more land," Browne said.

Browne further revealed that Newton has already identified 50 acres of land earmarked for distribution to residents in the constituency. "As indicated already, he has identified 50 acres of land that will be parcelized and made available to you, the people of All Saints," he said.

The remarks come as the ruling ABLP intensifies its campaign activities across the island ahead of the upcoming general election.
