Princess Margaret School (PMS) captain Jquan Athanaze described his team's Under-19 T20 triumph as a moment of redemption after leading them to a 17-run victory over Antigua Grammar School (AGS) to secure the title outright.
According to Antigua Observer, Athanaze reflected on the significance of the win, noting that it had been a long time coming. "It's been a long time. The first time we went to the final, we met the same team," Athanaze said, underlining the weight of the moment for him and his teammates.
Athanaze's comments came as teammate Mentore also spoke on what has been a breakthrough season for the PMS squad, as reported by Antigua Observer. Mentore reflected on the team's growth and the journey that led to their championship victory.
The win over AGS represents a significant achievement for Princess Margaret School, completing what has been a standout campaign in the Under-19 T20 competition. Captain Athanaze, who led from the front throughout the tournament, was vocal about what the title means to the group.
The victory adds another chapter to the rivalry between PMS and AGS, with the two schools having met previously at the final stage of the competition.
