Prime Minister Gaston Browne has sharply criticized a proposed multi-billion dollar sports facility circulating online ahead of the April 30 general election, dismissing it as a "fairy tale" concept with no credible foundation in cost or feasibility.

According to Antigua News Room, the image in question is labeled "The Sir Vivian Richards Sports and Entertainment Complex" and depicts a large-scale development featuring a stadium, running track, tennis courts, and other facilities. It has been shared widely in political exchanges between the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) and the opposition United Progressive Party (UPP).

Browne was unsparing in his assessment. "A fairy tale, billion dollar, sporting complex, taken from Chat GPT without any consideration of affordability, viability or sustainability," he said.

Sports Minister Daryll S. Matthew echoed that criticism, questioning whether an AI-generated image constitutes a credible policy platform. "So you get a pretty image from chatGPT and parade it as your ambitious policy. Smh," Matthew wrote.

No detailed proposal, independent costing, or official policy document outlining the complex has been publicly presented by the UPP or Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle.

The exchange reflects escalating tensions between the two parties as the April 30 general election approaches, with campaign messaging increasingly centered on competing visions for national development and public spending priorities.
