St. George Member of Parliament Michael Freeland has expressed gratitude and optimism following his appointment as Minister of State within the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment.

Freeland took to social media Tuesday to describe the appointment as a personal honour and to signal his readiness to get to work.

"It is my honour to have been sworn in as Minister of State within the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment, working alongside Hon. Charles Fernandez to advance these critical areas of national development," Freeland wrote.

Freeland also extended thanks to his constituents in the wake of the April 30 general election. "Thank you once again to the wonderful people of St. George," he added.

Freeland was among several Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party members sworn into ministerial positions as the party begins a new term in office.
