A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck northeast of Antigua on Tuesday morning, according to the UWI Seismic Research Centre, as reported by Antigua News Room.

The tremor was recorded at 11:36 am local time at a depth of 10 kilometres, with coordinates placing the epicentre within the Leeward Islands region.

Saint John's was identified as the nearest major location, sitting approximately 138 kilometres northwest of the epicentre. Basseterre lay roughly 103 kilometres to the north-northeast, while Brades was located approximately 158 kilometres north-northwest.

No immediate reports of damage or injuries have emerged following the event.

The UWI Seismic Research Centre cautioned that the epicentre's location is preliminary and may be revised as further analysis is completed.
