Chevaughn Burton, Assistant to the Focal Point for Safe Schools in the Ministry of Education, represented Antigua and Barbuda at a major global education forum at the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan, New York.
Burton participated in the Transforming Global Education Summit on May 1, 2026, which brought together education stakeholders from around the world to discuss strategies for improving education systems and strengthening resilience in the face of global challenges.
Disaster risk resilience in education was a central theme of the summit. Antigua and Barbuda's efforts to build national capacity in this area were highlighted as part of broader regional and international initiatives.
The Ministry of Education noted that participation in forums of this nature supports the country's ongoing commitment to safeguarding its education system and ensuring it is better prepared to withstand and recover from disasters.
