Maria Bird Browne of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has successfully retained the St John's Rural East constituency, defeating United Progressive Party (UPP) challenger Ashworth Azille in Thursday's General Elections.
According to Antigua News Room, Bird Browne secured 1,794 votes compared to Azille's 872, with 87 percent of ballots counted across the constituency's 5,187 registered electors. Nineteen ballots were rejected.
The decisive margin of victory underscores the ABLP's continued stronghold in the constituency.
