Dedicated election staff, security personnel and political party representatives were on the ground before sunrise Thursday, preparing polling stations across Antigua and Barbuda for the start of voting in the 2026 general election.
According to Antigua News Room, the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission confirmed that returning officers and their teams were in position ahead of the scheduled 6 a.m. opening of polls nationwide.
The Commission marked the occasion with an energetic message to the public: "Today is the day! General Elections 2026! Returning Officers and their teams are in place for the opening of the polls at 6 am. Are you ready?!"
Polling stations opened on schedule across the country, with officials and party agents working to ensure all systems were in place for a smooth start to the voting process.
Security personnel have also been deployed across polling divisions throughout the day to maintain order as electors cast their ballots.
