Antigua and Barbuda's Deputy Labour Commissioner is calling for a broader approach to workplace safety — one that extends beyond physical hazards to encompass mental health and stress management.
According to Antigua Observer, Pascal Kentish made the remarks during an interview on Observer AM, stressing that the country still needs to strengthen its overall culture of workplace safety. Kentish indicated that mental health remains an area where Antigua and Barbuda has room to grow in its occupational safety framework.
"One thing we don't have in Antigua," Kentish said, pointing to gaps that he believes must be addressed as the nation works toward more comprehensive protections for workers.
The Deputy Labour Commissioner's comments reflect a growing regional and global conversation around the importance of mental well-being in the workplace, and signal that local labour authorities are paying closer attention to the issue.
