Thousands of vehicles flooded roads across Antigua on Sunday as the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) staged a sweeping 'Red & Reddy' megacade, spanning multiple communities islandwide in a show of political force days before the April 30 general election.
According to Antigua News Room, the motorcade originated at Rising Sun Grounds before rapidly growing into a high-energy demonstration of party support. Long columns of cars, music trucks and flag-waving supporters moved through major thoroughfares including All Saints Road, Sir Sydney Walling Highway, Friars Hill Road and Market Street, concluding at the Crawford Playfield.
Support was visible beyond the procession itself. Residents dressed in red lined sections of the route, while others joined the caravan as it passed through villages and main roads, creating a continuous flow of traffic that at times stretched for miles.
Eyewitnesses described the event as one of the largest motorcades of the campaign season. Throughout the day, horns blared, music poured from vehicles, and supporters danced and waved party flags as the procession moved steadily across the island.
The megacade forms part of the ABLP's final campaign drive ahead of polling day, aimed at reinforcing the party's visibility and ground presence in the closing stretch of the election race.
There were no immediate reports of major incidents. However, the sheer scale of the motorcade produced heavy traffic congestion along several key routes for extended periods.
