A jury has found Saleim Harrigan guilty of the 2020 murder of Customs officer Nigel Christian, according to Antigua News Room. Co-accused Wayne Thomas and Lasean Bully were acquitted in the same case.
The nine-member panel delivered the split verdict before Justice Rajiv Persaud after more than five hours of deliberations, returning to court after 7pm. Jurors began deliberating around 2pm and, after signalling they needed more time at approximately 6pm, ultimately reached their final decisions later that evening.
The case stemmed from the abduction and killing of Christian on July 10, 2020. The Customs officer was taken at gunpoint from his McKinnons home and found dead later that day on a dirt road in Thibou's.
Harrigan now awaits sentencing. Thomas and Bully were cleared of the murder charge, though Thomas was remanded to custody in connection with a separate matter.
