A woman is calling for greater accountability from the All Saints Police Station after she says officers failed to respond adequately to a serious firearm threat made against her while she was driving home from work.
According to Antigua News Room, the incident occurred approximately six weeks to two months ago when an unknown woman, who is not a resident of the area, allegedly blocked the roadway and became engaged in a verbal altercation with the complainant. During the dispute, the suspect reportedly declared that she possessed a licensed firearm and threatened to shoot her.
Fearing for her life, the complainant immediately sought to report the matter to the All Saints Police Station. While en route, she was on the phone with a female police officer and informed her that a man was also tailgating her vehicle. She claims, however, that the call was cut short rather than treated as an urgent safety concern.
Upon arriving at the station, the woman provided a full account of the incident, including the license plate number of the vehicle involved. Despite the gravity of her report, she expressed disappointment at how the matter was handled, stating that she was allowed to leave without any clear reassurance or indication that immediate action would be taken.
She further alleged that attention appeared to be directed toward another individual who had no direct involvement in the incident and no firsthand knowledge of what had occurred.
Since filing the report, the complainant says she has made multiple follow-up calls and attempted to reach senior officers, but has received no meaningful update or explanation regarding the progress of the matter.
The experience has left her living in fear, she says, particularly as the woman who issued the threat is reportedly seen frequently in the same area.
The complainant is now urging senior police leadership to review how firearm-related threats are handled, arguing that such reports must be treated with the utmost urgency. She is also questioning whether sufficient measures are in place to protect members of the public who come forward to report serious threats to their safety.
